About Us

Knap's Battery is a non-political, non-profit organization affiliated with the N-SSA (North-South Skirmish Association)

Our name, Knap's Independent Battery 'E', is derived from, and in tribute to, an actual artillery unit that was recruited from the counties of southwestern Pennsylvania, and served with distinction in the Union Army from 1861 to 1865.

Our purpose is to provide education and generate public interest, so as by our commitment, serves as a continued reminder to ALL Americans, that we as a free nation will never forget or take for granted the ideals that our forefathers sacrificed, fought, and died for.

To promote marksmanship using firearms or reproductions thereof, which were made available to those who fought in the American Civil War, 1861 to 1865.

To uphold our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms by independent action and in cooperation with other organizations having the same objective.

To encourage the preservation, collection, and display of American Civil War relics and to commemorate the heroism of all soldiers who fought in the American Civil War, 1861 to 1865, as a reminder of our national heritage.
